In addition to the LM Property joint venture with Below Exploration, Bitterroot Resources Ltd. holds a 49.9% interest in a second nickel/copper exploration joint venture with Altius Minerals Corporation (50.1%), covering more than 360 square miles in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. This second joint venture was also formed to explore for conduit-hosted Ni/Cu/PGM-bearing sulphide deposits similar to Lundin Mining Corporation's Eagle and Eagle East mines.
In October 2015, Altius retained Geotech Ltd. to complete a 4,590 line-kilometre VTEM Plus airborne magnetic and electromagnetic survey. Analysis of the VTEM Plus data and subsequent Maxwell modelling generated nine (9) high-priority targets plus many secondary targets for follow-up. Prospecting around several VTEM Plus targets identified a previously undocumented outcropping ultramafic (olivene pyroxenite, 17% MgO) sill or flow. This type of ultramafic rock is a favourable host for conduit-hosted nickel-copper-PGM deposits like Eagle and Eagle East. Bitterroot's geophysical contractor recently completed two large-loop Time Domain Electromagnetic (TDEM) surveys which have confirmed the prospectivity and location of several of these VTEM targets.
Altius is the operator of the Voyageur Lands joint venture and is seeking a partner to fund drill-testing of these targets.
